May 15, 2010 - We would like to thank Shihan Marty Petrovich of Maine Kyokushin Karate for welcoming our Kanreikai team at the 2010 United States Kyokushin Open in Newry, ME.
Hanshi Manny Matias and Sensei Denis Cordeiro travelled to Maine to support and coach Sensei Mariusz Janicki, Senpai Mike Rudinskiy - who are both training at World Kanreikai Headquarters - and Senpai Michaël Cordeiro of our Montreal Kanreikai dojo. |

During this Championship, Sensei Mariusz Janicki earned his 3rd title as Lightweight Knockdown Champion in less than eight months. Once again, Sensei Mariusz proved that he is one of the most dominant fighters in his weight division as he took only 30 seconds to knock out his opponent and win the title.
Senpai Mike Rudinskiy took 3rd place in the Black Belt Kata division. Later in the day, he won his first knockdown fight, knocking out his opponent with a splendid roundhouse kick to the head. Unfortunately, Mike had to forfeit the fight for first place because of an injury. He took a very well deserved 2nd place in the lightweight division.
Last but not least, Senpai Michaël Cordeiro fought in the open adult division which ranged from 180 to 265 lbs. At 180 lbs and only 17 years old, Senpai Michaël proved once more his talent and power with three KOs in three fights, ending up on the highest step of the podium. He took out his first opponent in the second round with two knee kicks. His two other opponents didn't last more than 20 seconds into their first round. For instance, Michaël begun his last fight - against an adversary that was 60 lbs heavier than him - with a spectacular back kick to the plexus and finished it with a well aimed knee kick.
Needless to say that Hanshi Manny and Sensei Denis were very proud of their three fighters!
Congratulations to Sensei Mariusz, Senpai Mike and Senpai Michaël for a well fought Championship!! |
