Montreal Kanreikai at Black Belt Promotion Test, Danbury, CT |
| August 8, 2009 - Catherine Villeneuve, Samuel Bate and Vladimir Alexandru of Montreal Kanreikai Karate took part in the Black Belt Promotion Test that was held in Danbury and supervised by Hanshi Manny Matias. They had trained very hard with Sensei Denis Cordeiro in order to prepare for this important challenge. Advanced promotion tests are very demanding and this one was no exception. Our three students were physically and mentally ready and they performed very well from start to finish! |

Kanreikai Family Camp, Rawdon, Lanaudière, QC |
July 31 to August 2, 2009 - Along with members of the Joliette Kanreikai dojo, several students of Montreal Kanreikai Karate took part in the first Kanreikai Family Camp at Lac Long, near Rawdon in Lanaudière. Led by Hanshi Manny Matias, Sensei Denis Cordeiro and Sensei Dominic Morin, students trained outdoors under the sun … and in the rain! Between trainings, they swam, played and relaxed by the lake.
It was a great occasion for students and families to spend some time together in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. This camp was certainly the first of many to come!! |

Kanreikai Summer Camp at Jiminy Peak, MA, USA |
July 9-12, 2009 - Sensei Denis Cordeiro, Senpai Sandra Coffey, Senpai Kateri Guertin, Senpai Manuel da Costa, Catherine Villeneuve and Nicky da Costa all traveled to Jiminy Peak to join other members of World Kanreikai Karate for the 2009 Summer Camp.
Hanshi Manny Matias led three arduous training sessions each day: up the mountain at 6am and on the lawn at 10:30am and 3:00pm. Hanshi Manny reviewed all kata and weapon kata in great detail and had students work on their fighting technique. |
